Total Time 20 minutes

Serves 3 people

Ingredients

  • 2 Large Green Bananas

  • ¼ Cup of Flax Seeds

  • 1 Cup of  Whole Milk

  • 1 Can of Condensed Milk

  •  Nutmeg, Vanilla Extract, Cinnamon

Preparation

  1. Pour 4-6 Cups of water into a Pot and allow it to boil.

  2. While waiting for the water to boil, peel the bananas and cut them into pieces that can easily fit into a blender or food processor.

  3. Combine the flax seeds,  whole milk, and pieces of bananas into the blender and blend them until a smooth mixture is formed.

  4. Add the mixture to the boiling water and stir repeatedly, ensuring no lumps are formed, and the mixture is cooking smoothly. Then, you may cover the pot and reduce the flame to low or medium.

  5. Stir occasionally, and cut the flame from under the pot after 10 minutes of cooking.

  6. Sweeten with a few spoons of condensed milk to your preferred sweetness, and add a dash of vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Tips

You may add whole milk or water if you want your porridge thinner. This is a delicious hot breakfast cereal.

So my friend's grandma is now waiting for her dentures, which will not be ready until approximately the next 3-4 weeks. She has been eating mainly soup supplemented with Ensure for weight maintenance. Poor grandpa loves her vegetables, especially kale and mushroom, as they are excellent sources for fighting free radicals -- allegedly responsible for causing cancer, premature aging, and other diseases.

A few days ago, I visited the family, and while I was there having a conversation with her, I asked her what about trying a kale/mushroom/ensure smoothie? At first, she laughed at me and told me that that didn't sound like something she would enjoy. Finally, however, I persuaded her to try it, and she finally agreed.

I went over to the refrigerator and got 2 cans of Ensure, 3 medium-sized mushrooms, and one handful of fresh kale. After washing the kale and mushrooms(sliced), I dumped them along with the ensure in a blender. I made her a cold, refreshing (8.5 ounces cup) smoothie within a minute or two. Boy, oh boy, did she enjoy it! Grandma said, "Not only is this refreshing son, but I also had myself a complete meal -- my protein, carbohydrate, fibers, fats, and a ton of other nutrients."

10/7/14
My friend Joe called me this morning and told me he was going to the Produce Market. He told me that he would pick up some fruits and vegetables for his grandmother and asked if I had any suggestions(for grandma's smoothies). I told him that he should just pick up various fruits and vegetables.

That day was my day off from work, so I told him that I would stop by to see all he had bought on my way from the gym. I also suggested a few fruits and vegetables that he could combine to prepare his grandmother a healthy and delicious smoothie.

We combined and blended these fruits and vegetables to make 4.5 cups of smoothie for grandma. Of course, it was delicious, and not to mention the nutritional value (fibers, carbs, proteins, fats, etc.).

1 medium-sized mango
2 eight oz. cans of ensure plus
1handful of fresh Kale
1 medium-sized beet

Sea moss soaked for a few hours to get rid of the excess salt

Let it sit until it's cool before transferring the pot's content to a Nutribullet/MagicBulett, blender, etc., and blend until you have a smooth finished product. You can now add your sweetener(condensed milk), a tad of nutmeg, cinnamon powder, and vanilla extract for flavoring. Pour and store this drink in bottle containers. Keep the bottles refrigerated. It thickens as it gets colder.  It tastes better when served chilled.
